Life Saving Bariatric Surgery

After couple years & countless trips to the ER, doctor & having tests and bloodwork etc, I finally got answers when I visited Cooper Hematology Oncology. Dr. Polina Khruzman reviewed my tests & bloodwork and noticed my liver function levels were not normal. She recommended me to go see a surgeon to discuss having liver biopsies taken. March 2014, at Cooper Hospital in Camden NJ I went in to have the biopsies done. Couple weeks later, I got the results & the bisopies came back abnormal. I was then referred to a Hepatologist Transplant dr, Dr. Malek from Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden NJ. After more tests & bloodwork, I found out that I have cirrhosis of the liver, known as NASH. It's non alcholic cirrhosis of the liver. My liver is scarring and hardening & is not working 100%. Both my spleen & liver are both enlarged because my spleen is working extra hard because of my liver not functioning properly. My dr told me he has never seen this in someone my age, I'm only 25. He told me I had to have it a least 10 years & I didn't even know it. With me being so overweight, if I needed a liver transplant which someday I will because this disease is IRREVERSIBLE, I wouldn't be able to have it. I would die! Imagine hearing those words, I was numb! In order for me to stay alive and be healthy & have a liver transplant I need to lose weight fast, & having bariatric surgery is the only option. I was referred to Our Lady of Lourdes surgeons. Dr. Profeta & Dr. Salcone are my surgeons. I trust them with my life! There very nice and I feel comfortable with them. I'm in good hands!! Only problem is, my insurance only covers a portion of this surgery, so I am responsible for the rest of the bill. Would be a great help for any donation to help me with paying my medical bill. I'm already hundreds in debt from pre op appointments and tasks I had to complete in order to have the surgery. I went in for surgery OCTOBER 13, 2014, and it required a 2 1/2 hour surgery and I was in the hospital for 3 nights. They also took liver biospsies as well. I am on the road to recovery, each day gets a little better :)

This is a life changing event, this is only the beginning. So much to buy from here on out, & money is the priority with buying healthy food, exercising & gym membership, new clothes, medicine, vitamins I have to take for the rest of my life. That's just to name a few. I am very excited & I have great support system, just funds are tight. Surgeries aren't cheap, either are hospital stays... Thank you for reading this, please share!!
