I want to be a Missionary Helicopter Pilot

Donation protected
As we are nearing the coming of our Savior, there are still 2 billion people who have not heard His name yet. We do not know how much longer we have to share the good news with all these perishing souls and this should be an alarming call for all of us to come together and finish the mission given to us. My name is Belgrove Josiah, III and I am 21 years old. God has directed me towards becoming a missionary helicopter pilot to provide life-saving services to those in great need and to open hearts to the Gospel of Jesus.

On many of the 7,641 Islands of the Philippines, in vast mountains and plummeting valleys hidden from the luxurious, exotic, and beautiful resorts, there are thousands of natives dying from illnesses, injuries, birth complications, and infections. The only way they can get any medical help is by walking for days through narrow mountain passes or driving for hours on rough dirt roads.  Many times these long tiresome trips result in the death of the sick just before getting to the clinic or hospital. However, transporting these patients via aircraft may only take twenty to thirty minutes, saving thousands of lives.

Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services (PAMAS) is a medical evacuation missionary service that reaches these villagers using helicopters and airplanes. PAMAS is the only air medical evacuation service in the Philippines that is available to everyone regardless of their financial resources. PAMAS currently has 5 missionary pilots which operate 2 helicopters and 4 airplanes.

The Director of PAMAS expressed to me that there is a need for more missionary pilots in their ministry and I would like to be an answer to this call.

To become a safe pilot, there are 5 phases that I need to complete to have sufficient training and experience. The estimated total for these 5 phases is ~$127,000 of which $27,000 is for phase #1:

Private Pilots License ~$27,000

Instrument Flight Rating ~$50,000
Commercial Pilot Rating ~$15,000
Certified flight instructor ~$17,000
Certified Flight Instructor in Instruments ~$18,000

The path towards becoming a pilot is challenging, yet every step of the way is well worth it knowing that in the end, lives will be saved not only from physical death, but they will have an opportunity to get acquainted for the first time with the real-life Giver. An African proverb says: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” For this reason, I am asking you to partner with me in this endeavor. We can partner together to save lives for now and for eternity!

No amount is too small.

Thank you for your support, and may the Lord bless you!
