Friday, August 1st of this year our lives were forever changed! We found out that our beloved mom, grandmother and best friend did not have disc problems such as we thought but was diagnosed with the hateful disease known as cancer.  Mom works very hard and had planned to retire in 4 years so Dad and herself could return back to Newfoundland and finally enjoy life....  It was very devastating and blew us out of the water!! Mom has had a cancerous mass removed from her spine and had rods and screws put in place to stabilize her back. Sad thing is she still has cancer in her breast, liver, lymph nodes and bones. The Drs  are planning on giving mom enough radiation and chemo to help control the pain but due to her cancer being so aggressive....there's little else they can do. Mom has been in the Health Science Centre for over 5 weeks now (with Dad staying by her side) and still waiting to hear from her pensions and sick benefits. Anyone who knows Mom realizes how her family is everything to her and therefore she is everything to us!!! She's our rock and is the glue to our family. She's always been there for all of us no matter what and now its time for someone else to be there for her.
