Please don’t send me a Christmas card. Please don’t buy me that bar of chocolate. Don’t spend money on little treats for my already very privileged children. This is a personal message from me to all my contacts. friends, family and maybe even some kind strangers - my heart will be full if you can make a donation today instead.

Sri Lanka is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in its recent history. Catastrophic flooding has now claimed over 400 lives, and more than one million people have been displaced. Entire communities are now struggling to access even the most basic necessities for survival.

Beyond the immediate disaster relief, millions of Sri Lankans have lost everything and will need to rebuild their lives from scratch. Entire homes, belongings, and livelihoods have been washed away. This rebuilding process will be especially challenging for people who already survived on the bare minimum daily wages—people for whom life was already a daily struggle even before this tragedy struck.

Clean drinking water, food, medicine and sanitary supplies are in critically short supply. Many families have no safe water source, and the risk of water-borne illness is rising daily.

I am aware that this time of year is difficult for people financially, please have a look at how little is needed to actually make a difference:
