My Grandmother Needs Help

Please before you look away, I'm begging for anyone who can spare to help; to see my grandmas story.

Hi everyone. Typing this out is hard and I am not good with words.  My names Breanna Hartnett. Or Bree for short.  This fundraiser is my grandma, Diane Hartnett; 76. I am 22 years old, living at home to help aid my grandma. Ever since the early 2000s, my family has struggled to stay afloat. While we have been blessed with a house that she made with her and her husbands own hands; things have slowly deteriorated for the worse. My grandma has always been an amazing person, she loves animals and sewing clothing, donating to various homeless-charities, and dedicates all her time to taking care of a cemetery where her own mom and dad were buried back in 2008-ish. She took me in like a daughter back in 1999  when my mother couldn't care for me, and growing up  though at times it was hard, it was a pleasure to have such a positive force in my life.

However... A few short years ago my Grandma ran into some terrible legal trouble after falling in a grocery store and trying to get compensation for what was a spinal injury; that has caused her immeasurable pain. The entire incident financially ruined my family for the past few years with medical bills, and the cost we fought for barely paid back the lawyer fee, let alone the medical bills. Over the following two years we were on the upswing, but we've been haunted by what feels like a shadow. Caring for me while I attend physical therapy, Her cousin/best friend of 70 years from cancer,  the same cancer which runs in her family becoming a more and more bigger threat to herself as she doesn't have the money to get treated so she's too scared to even look, the death of her dogs, two of which you see in the picture, which were her emotional anchors. I could go on, but the point is: She's become detached, depressed, and distant. Just when we thought we were getting back on our feet again, the one thing we could turn to, a house, is being threatened.

While I have tried to chip in anywhere I can, the biggest problem has finally reared its head. In six months time, the mortgage company wants my grandma to scrape together 5500 dollars to pay off her debt fully, despite we were supposed to pay it off over the next few years. No more payments. Despite countless calls, they won't budge because of their clause. Trying to extend the time has led to running into countless walls, and time continues to tick onward. Even if we did manage to extend it a year, both my grandparents live off social security, and I am currently disabled attending therapy and unable to catch a job besides doing art. Becoming homeless is a talk that we've broke down in tears having.

My Grandma has lived in this house since she built it in her mid 20s. Shes 76 now! She's been nothing but an amazing person the entire time. Patient, motherly, and a true saint of Upstate New York. She deserves peace in her twilight, with a future of calm that I finally can feel like I'm helping build towards, rather than sitting by, unable to help her because of shortcomings of circumstance. I know everyone is struggling right now. If you cannot donate, it is ok, and I’m not upset with you, and bless you and your family. But if you are willing and able, I would very much appreciate your help to finally give my grandma a gift of receiving, after all she's done for the people around her, and me.
