Endurance for Veterans PTSD Study
WHO IS Endurance for Veterans :
Endurance for Veterans is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the number of veterans who take their own lives by providing the opportunity to heal and rehabilitate through physical fitness. We offer a chance to reconnect to the community by subsidizing cost of community-based physical fitness programs.
There is emerging evidence that exercise can be a valuable component of a comprehensive mental health treatment plan and has been shown to have a positive impact on the symptoms of depression. Although we have received the support of over 130 supporting organizations, we currently lack the resources to confirm if what we're doing is making a difference. We want to know if our mission is effective.
HOW WILL DONATIONS BE USED:
We are leading a study that will analyze the impact community-based physical fitness has on PTSD. There are two reasons for this study:
1. Is our mission of helping through physical fitness effective?
This organization was founded off the idea that physical fitness impacts PTSD symptoms, but we lack the data to verify if what we're doing is making a positive impact. Our ultimate goal is to reduce the veterans suicide and decrease PTSD symptoms. This study will measure the effectiveness of our program.
2. Provide a benchmark for a sustainable solution.
We want to develop a program that is scalable, easy to implement, and can be deployed by anywhere. This study is laying the foundation of developing a sustainable program and can be used as a treatment for PTSD.
BREAKDOWN OF FUNDS:
Endurance for Veterans is 100% volunteer. No one draws a salary and all donations will directly fund this study. If we meet our goal, donations will support 50 veterans for 6 months by:
• Subsidizing gym membership costs - 80.50%
• Administrative Costs - 7.44%
• Travel for participants who have physical disabilities and require unique transportation - 6.19%
• Communication Costs - 3.72%
• Infrastructure for research instruments - 2.15%
