Help send Ellen to Haiti

You know how, sometimes, you have a dream in your heart, but time passes...and more time...and more time. And suddenly you're in your 40's and feeling it, and you think maybe the dream has passed you by?

That's where I was...until last month, when I took a step of faith and joined a team traveling to Haiti for missions work. The opportunity to go to Haiti was completely unexpected but something I've dreamed of doing for decades.

The need is great.

When the devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, I watched, stunned, as cell phone videos started showing up on YouTube, displaying images of entire neighborhoods disappearing as buildings pancaked down to ground level.

My heart went out to the people of Haiti, and as I followed the events over the weeks that followed, I felt helpless to do anything. So I prayed. But I never expected that I would actually end up there, in person.

Ouch.

At the time of the Haiti earthquake, I was still recovering from spinal fusion surgery that had some complications; I wasn't really sure I'd be able to walk without extreme pain, let alone travel to another country to serve people suffering in extreme crisis.

But God...

If you were to meet me today, you'd never know I'd had a spinal surgery-gone-wrong. I'm not saying I don't have some lingering issues, but I'm so recovered that my best friend is amazed--she'd seen me at my worst. Our God is faithful!

And now some pastor friends of mine (see photo below from a previous Haiti expedition) have put together a team that's going to be part of a larger group heading to Haiti in November--and I'm going!

Conduit Missions, who made the intro video, is organizing the "expedition," and they've been serving Haiti for over 7 years. They are reputable, and they have a God-driven love for the people there.

Although this is my first trip, two other members of my local team have been to Haiti on a Conduit trip before, and they will tell you that their lives and relationship with God have changed forever. They fell in love with the Haitian people and are anxious to get back.

There will be a variety of opportunities to serve, and I can't tell you exactly what I will be doing; however, the video will give you a good idea of what I will be involved in.

I expect to be serving children, helping take care of those who lost their homes in the earthquake, bringing supplies to outlying villages, and most importantly, sharing hope that comes through having a relationship with Jesus.

The Bottom Line

With flight, meal and lodging expenses, Conduit is setting our individual costs at $1500. We each are raising our own support for the trip.

I truly believe that when you give to the Lord's work in Haiti, you will reap blessings in your own life.

So if you want to see more love, compassion, mercy and kindness come your way, please consider helping to Send Ellen to Haiti!

Through your donations you can be a part of the incredible work being done in Haiti--without leaving your home! You can consider me your personal representative. And 100% of your donation will go to getting me to and from Haiti and keeping me there for a week.

Your friend,
Ellen

PS I have to have pay my total balance paid in full by October 8. Please donate today, so I can meet this deadline. I appreciate you more than you could ever know!

Final Word

You can verify my participation in this trip by contacting Conduit Missions at conduitmissions.org. I invite you to do so! At their website you will see even more information about the awesome work they are doing around the world!
