Tigoni Hospital Suplies

Donation protected
Hey guys my name is Luis E Medina. I will tell you a little bit about my story. This summer I spent a month in Tigoni District Hospital outside of Nairobi, volunteering and learning from the hospital and country. As a Medical Student, I provided medical support to the Tigoni staff while learning from their expertise. I shadowed doctors on their rounds and during emergencies, discussing the cases, observing, providing help and practicing skills. I worked with OB/GYNS, focusing on maternity and pediatrics. I also conducted deliveries, resuscitated newborns and assist procedures in theatre. On days off, I explored Kenya's sites and culture and volunteered in the community. In Kenya, I faced many challenges, ranging from communication and cultural difficulties to the hospital's limited resources. I gained insight into the needs of developing communities and an expanded awareness of the importance of programs and policies, such as Kenya's free care for babies and HIV infected patients. While I was there, I lost a toddler due medical malpractice from one of the attendants, also I saw so many deaths that may have been prevented if they would have the equipment to treat it. They don’t even have heart monitors.I found out that this major hospital has two oxygen tanks for a 60 + bed hospital, one for infants in maternity and one in the theatre, and not one AED in all four wards. Tigoni Hospital is still in need of medical supplies, notably cardiac defibrillators and other emergency response supplies such as bag-valve masks and the like.
My next plan of action for Tigoni District Hospital is to gather medical supplies, and to bring it to them this winter and for that I need your help.
