A picture paints a thousand words.

Said (Sa-eed) (Abdullah A S Fayyad) is an emergency room nurse in Gaza. He worked at Al Shifa Hospital at the beginning of the current conflict, and he was taken captive with many other medical personnel and held for 6-8 months, his only crime being, that he was Palestinian and a medical worker supporting his people.

In the months he was held captive, he was subjected to torture and dehumanizing treatment, in an attempt to break his spirit. You can only imagine how that has affected him.

Finally, released, he went back to nursing in the ER.

As Al Shifa Hospital was mostly destroyed, and access to the North of Gaza cut off, he has been working in the ER in Al Aqsaa Hospital, in central Gaza, Deir al-Balah, where one of my American friends, Brenda, had the privilege of working alongside him. What a hero. Showing up daily and working long hours to try and save as many lives as possible, with very little equipment. An impossible task, yet he kept showing up, and does so to this day.

Not able to sleep at night due to the bombardments, and tormented by the memories of his torture, he did not let this define him as he bravely showed up to work, day after day, exhausted and fatigued, but refusing to stop serving his people.

Despite all this, life goes on and Said was married last year and he and his young wife have just welcomed a beautiful baby to their family. Said supports his own family, extended family and a larger group of people. He is on a meagre salary that does not even provide enough for his family to survive, yet he shares what he can.

I am helping my lovely friend, Brenda, who is a nurse from the US to set up this GoFundMe for him so that he and his family can have food which are being sold at extortionate prices in Gaza.

If you have the capacity and would like to be a part of helping Said and his young family survive the war and famine in Gaza, and to help them on their road to recovery, please consider donating on this GoFundMe. If you are unable at this time to donate, please consider sharing the GoFundMe. The more people who assist, the greater the impact and the more likely it is that this young nurse and his family will be able to recover and live through this genocide.

There is no amount too small. Even going without coffee or a meal out, and donating the money, will all add up and we will be able to feed Said and his community. Imagine the impact we as a group can have on this family, who already are greatly impacting their community. Imagine the lives we can be a part of saving, by ensure this nurse has food and water.

Thank you for reading through this and for your consideration.
