Deanna Watson, mother of two, needs our help!
This is Deanna Watson. She is the loving, kind, sweet and dedicated mother of two beautiful children. She was vibrant and healthy, easily able to keep up with her 6 year old daughter Myah and 19 month old son Jaxx. That is, until August 19th, 2014.

Tragedy Struck
Like the plot from a bad movie, Deanna was stricken with a mysterious illness that left her paralyzed. Literally no longer able to walk or feel her legs or hands, Deanna sat wondering what could possibly be wrong with her.
Unfortunately, the doctors also could not figure it out. At first she was told it was an autoimmune deficiency and they would be able to treat her. The diagnosis changed when it appeared perhaps she had a copper deficiency. Full recovery is what she was originally told to expect. Now, it appears she may have the rare and uncurable disease known as Guillain Barre. While most people recover from this disease, doctors from USA Medical Center have told Deanna that she may never walk again.
Financial Destitution
Deanna had recently returned to the work force after a hiatus proceeding the birth of her son Jaxx. She had been at Bay Paper for about six weeks when the disease took hold. She was still six weeks away from being approved for health insurance. So that means she has none.
With no insurance, her only recourse would be federal and state aide. As a mother the first place she was told to look was Medicaid. The trouble is, she cannot care for her children. She has to be cared for, so her kids do not live with her. As long as they no longer reside in the same house as her, Medicaid will likely not accept her.
With no means of funding, she was released from the hospital to the care of her mother instead of going to a rehabilitation center. Now she lives under the care of her mother and step father. Her children live with their father. Deanna is unable to feel her extremities, so she cannot walk, she cannot bath herself or use the bathroom unassisted. She also cannot feed her toddler, or feel her children's warm skin when she carresses them.
Right Now She Needs Us
No one wants to be at the mercy of others, unable to care for themselves. This, however, was a totally freak and tragic occurance and now Deanna is in that unfortunate position. Her parents are being wonderful, but they can only do so much.
Their funds are limited and so is their strength. No one residing in her mother's home right now is strong enough to lift Deanna into the bath tub!
She needs to be in physical rehabilitation with trained professionals that can work with her to help build strength back into her limbs. She needs tests and charts and progress monitoring and a staff of people whose job it is to get her better again.
I cannot even begin to imagine how expensive something like that is, but anything will help. Money will help get Deanna the treatment she needs so she can be well enough to care for her own children again. So she can live her life again.
Everybody's Got a Cause
The internet has no shortage of worthy causes pulling everyone's attention. Many campaigns to help people have pulled money out of even the most empty of bank accounts because of the goodness in people's hearts. I am sure everyone has a cause they have championed.
This situation presents a different opportunity. Donations to THIS cause will help a single individual that you can see, talk to and possibly even meet. It will give a mother her children back and a woman her life back. Your donations will not go to paying the staff of a nonprofit organization or compesating a fundraiser. The money goes directly to medical treatment for Deanna Watson. It goes to helping her to walk again.
This is important, not just because it allows Deanna to care for her children and live a normal life, but also because she must return to work so that she can make mortgage payments and support her growing kids. The sooner we can get Deanna well, we have a better chance of helping her avoid losing her home and other things attached to financial obligation.
I and a team of Deanna's closest friends will keep everyone updated via this medium and facebook on the progress of the fundraising and her hopeful eventual treatment.
