Dollars for Destiny

Donation protected
My name is Amanda Chitsey and I am a nurse practitioner in Harrison, AR. Many people know me from working at the nursing homes around here. I am raising money for one of our best nurses at Highland Tims, AKA "Bristol", AKA "Hilltop" - Katrina Davis .
Katrina has a 10 year old daughter who had some belly pain and a fever 3 weeks ago. A quick trip to the ER revealed that her daughter, Destiny, actually had acute lymphocytic leukemia not just a simple stomach bug. Their life has truly been shattered. These hard working parents have not been able to work. Destiny was in the hospital for over a week in Little Rock at Children's. She received chemo into her brain and now is receiving chemo once a week in Little Rock. The days after her chemo are hard- she is sick and in a lot of pain. Who knew a 10 year old would need morphine?
The Harrison community has been so good to Destiny. I have seen all her balloons and flowers, hats, quilts. The love is overwhelming. I even saw where her brother and Dad shaved their own heads bald so Destiny wouldn't feel out of place as her hair falls out.
This is a great family.  It is unfortunate that the world does not stop when your child is diagnosed with something as devastating as cancer. The car payments are still due, bills have to be paid, groceries, huge gas bills to drive to Little Rock constantly. And the biggest thing for me is that this little girl needs her mother. I actually felt sick to my stomach last week when I heard the Director of Nursing say that Katrina was trying to find a way to come back to work on the days her husband had off of work. All of us as mothers and fathers know the feeling when your child is sick- you want to be there for them. You dont want to be at work, you wouldn't want to feel like you HAD to be at work.
Katrina works 40+ hours a week as a nurse. She was always the first one to come in when a nurse called in sick or to pick up shifts that were short a nurse. She is a work horse. Her family has lost this income and I want her to be able to stay at home with her daughter as long as she needs to.
That is why I have started this fundraiser. Destiny is going to be getting chemotherapy for months- up to a year. She will miss an entire school year. The first 2 weeks of chemo have been heartwrenching, painful and something no mother ever wants to have to go through. This little girl needs her mother home- please donate anything you can, no matter how small,  to make this happen for this Harrison family.
The donations can be made anonymously or this website will post your name and you can send a message to Destiny and her family with your donation.
Please share this post on FB.
I have started this fundraiser on my own and every penny that is donated here will go to Destiny's family.
