Ray's Recovery

You all know him as Raymond Ruffini, but to me, he is my hero. His dedication, persistence and selfless nature have no end. He is the definition of a family man, kind and gentle with a heart of gold. He will give you the shirt off his back in times of need without question or expectation, but now it’s our turn. 

In the beginning of May, Ray was diagnosed with stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. The tumor had grown to the point where swallowing was beginning to be a major challenge. In the beginning of June he underwent his first procedure. A chemo port was inserted in his upper chest and a feeding tube was inserted directly into his lower intestine. The following week radiation and Chemo treatments began. Ray went through 6 weeks of both radiation and chemo. Thankfully, his body reacted well and the tumor decreased in size. Thru the pain and discomfort, Ray has continued to keep his spirits high. His journey is not yet over though. He will be undergoing surgery the end of August/ beginning of September to remove any part of the tumor that may be left behind. A portion of his esophagus will be removed and then the remaining piece will be reattached to his stomach. He will be in recovery at the hospital for at least a week and then at home to continue his recovery. Doctors have indicated he will be in recovery at home for at least a month. 

Ray is the last person to ever ask for anything, but now more than ever he needs our love and support. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his journey thru to recovery.
