DynaMIKE- Mike Kidonakis Fundraiser
On May 9th, 2017 Mike (aka dynaMIKE) was diagnosed with stage 4a nasopharyngeal carcinoma (an invasive cancer in the back of the sinuses), with metastasis to the skull bone, ear canal and 2 lymph nodes in the neck. He has received over 300 hours of inpatient chemotherapy. Although that was successful in shrinking the tumor, Mike is enduring the final phase of treatment consisting of high dose chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments to his head and neck.
Mike has been extremely strong and determined throughout his treatment. He had a recent setback and was in ICU for pneumonia, sepsis and a tear in the esophagus. The blisters and inflammation in his mouth and esophagus are so painful, that Mike just had a feeding tube placed. While he is recovering from all of these life threatening situations, he still has to finish up his chemo and radiation treatments.
Mike, his wife Jenny and their 10 year old twins, Harry and Zoe, have been through so much during these last 5 months. They have had wonderful support, but really need their "village" now.
The family will be in temporary housing close to the proton radiation center for the duration of his treatment. The daily 40 minute car rides each way were very taxing on Mike, causing vomiting. That now puts him in a dangerous position for further tears to the esophagus which can become life threatening again. Getting the kids to and from school will be difficult logistically, but it is necessary to ensure the best possible outcome for Mike.
The Kidonakis family has incurred so many expenses throughout this process and they rarely seek help for anything. There is so much love for this amazing family, and we'd love to alleviate some extra stress for them. The money that is raised will be used by the family for what they think is important... temporary accommodations, gas, meals, bills, or making new wonderful memories together that will overshadow this nightmare they've been living through.
Please keep sending those prayers, good vibes and positive thoughts for a full recovery for Mike. And please share, share, share and shower the Kidonakis family with love!
