Dylan's Defenders

God has a way of putting people together decades earlier who will need each other to walk hand in hand years down the road; Gina Renteria, Remi's mom, came into my life, unbeknownst to her, at a time that I needed a solid foundation and genuine friendship in my life while I was beginning my fight with cancer.  She is now helping her own family by managing this fundraiser while Dylan and I continue our battles.  Life holds lessons that teach us grace, kindness and compassion.  Dylan Brown and Remi Renteria are part of a family that has journeyed with many of us in our darkest moments.  Now they need us.  Recently diagnosed with cancer the week of his 21st birthday, Dylan is now facing a minimum of 4 months of treatment.  Although his dream of becoming a police officer was just on the horizon, we want to show him and Remi, who is first year teacher, that love abounds and dreams do come true.  Dylan, who was soon to have a new career with insurance, is now without that immediate option, and we need to be his defenders...to fight for him and show him that he is and will continue to be the superhero that has blessed so many people.  Remi, as his caregiver, also needs to be showered with our support.  Let's all challenge ourselves to join Dylan's Defenders and help this couple continue to be the dynamic duo that they are.
