HELP DYLAN CONTINUE THE RACE

Like a lot of kids in rural Ontario, I grew up playing hockey and soccer.  I picked up running between the two.  Primary school cross country runs grew to road races around the county.  Then one day, four years ago, I entered my first Kids of Steel Triathlon in Caledon, Ontario.  I was last out of the pool that day, but I managed to bike then run my way to a bronze medal finish.  I was hopelessly hooked and I've been racing ever since.

As my passion for triathlon grew, so too did the level of competition.  Regional contests gave way to a national series.  Last summer culminated in a race at the World Age Group Championships in Edmonton.  Hard work and good fortune has landed me a spot at this spring's North American Junior Elite Championships in Sarasota, Florida.  That pool in Caledon is a distant, but still fond memory.

It all comes at a cost.  A cost in terms of the long and sometimes lonely hours training, but also in terms of the expense of gear, race registrations, coaching and club memberships, not to mention the airfare, bike transport and accommodation costs associated with racing internationally.  In the face of that, I have reluctantly let go of my part-time job to more fully dedicate myself to my training and academics. 

That is where you come in -- I am reaching out to friends and family to raise the funds needed to allow me to continue to grow within the sport and to chase my dreams.  This year, the four races in the Canadian Junior Elite Series will take me from Magog, Quebec to Kelowna, British Columbia. The competition will be steep and the costs high but I am confident that, with a little help from you, I can meet the challenge.
