Dylan the Dynamite

We're starting this page to help offset the financial burden of Dylan Berio's long-term fight against brain cancer (Optic Pathway Glioma).  Dylan is the 11 year old (soon to be 12!) Pedal Partner of our Pan-Mass Challenge team.  He's been the team's partner since 2012, and has been battling cancer since he was 3 and a half years old.  In the years following his diagnosis, there have been many ups and downs for him, his parents Phil and Dawn, and his brother Hayden.  He's undergone many surgeries and treatments, but one of his tumors is inoperable due to its locations on the optic nerve. 2019 has unfortunately been a down year.  His MRI in January showed tumor growth triggering additional chemotherapy after some well deserved chemo-free months. Additional aggressive growth was detected in August and his medical team in Boston is trying yet another type of treatment.  Dylan is suffering through unpleasant side effects and increasing vision issues. His frequent visits from his home in Middleboro to the Jimmy Fund Clinic and Boston Children's Hospital limit his mom Dawn's ability to work.  Dylan is a leader and a fighter - and after getting to know him and his mom over the past several years, I can certainly see where he gets it from.  Dawn is always by his side with such a positive attitude, even when facing her own health issues.  Dylan, and Dawn, regularly deliver matchbox cars to other children going through treatments at the Jimmy Fund Clinic, and they assemble care packages for families fighting the harsh realities of childhood cancer.  They're always looking for ways to help others despite their own challenges. It is our hope to use this page to help ease the burden of their trips to Boston, mounting medical expenses, and the household bills impacted by lost wages.  They do so much for so many, and they so deserve our help, love and support!
