Dylan, Frida and Daniel have disabilities, such as: Multiple Disabilities, Intellectual, Autism and Attention Deficit disorder, and Hyperactivity. They live in Valle de Chalco in the State of Mexico, one of the poorest municipalities in Mexico. Due to the pandemic they do not have their medications, which causes a setback in their learning, but also endangers their lives. Since classes have been suspended due to COVID, Dylan, who suffers from epilepsy, has had more seizures, further deteriorating his physical and mental health. Seizures may decrease if he receives the necessary medication. Other students, due to their condition, in the absence of medication and confinement, have shown greater restlessness, anxiety, aggressive behaviors and self-harm.
My aunt Luz is a teacher at the Cuicacalli Multiple Attention Center, a Special Education school where Dylan, Frida, Daniel and more than 100 other children take classes. That school has been an alternative for those little ones to have a better quality of life. In addition to providing the care they need for their disabilities, teachers and parents have sought to support each other, which is why they have formed a small dispensary to provide, within their possibilities, medicines to the students who need it the most. Due to the pandemic, the school is closed and therefore the dispensary is not available.
Between 40 and 50 percent of the students require specialized medical treatment, the majority depend on public services and those institutions do not cover most of the medicines. Even if they could have a medical appointment, they do not always have the resources to pay for public transportation fares, and even less to fill a prescription. The cost of some medications can be the equivalent of two weeks of work for a parent of these children. Most families meet their needs as street vendors and as part of the informal economy .
The situation has worsened during the pandemic. The "shelter-in-place" orders to prevent COVID infections has dramatically affected the income of these families. Hospitals such as the “Dr. Samuel Ramirez Moreno ”, the one closest to the community, is not providing services. At the same time, distance classes and the closing of services of different institutions such as public rehabilitation centers, where many of the kids received therapies, have caused these girls, boys and adolescents to be adrift.
Without a dispensary, without medical services, what future awaits them?
Help us support these children abandoned by a system that ignores their existence. They do not ask us to solve their lives, just a little respite to continue fighting to survive and achieve the right to life that we all should have.
With your donation, we will ensure that at least 23 of them, who are the ones who most require it, have the necessary supply of medicines for three months, which is the time that specialized medical services and schools are expected to be restored.

Dylan, Frida y Daniel, presentan discapacidades, tales como: Discapacidad Múltiple, Intelectual, Autismo y Trastorno de Déficit de Atención con hiperactividad. Viven en Valle de Chalco en el Estado de México, uno de los municipios más pobres de México, y debido a la pandemia no tienen sus medicamentos, lo que provoca un retroceso en su aprendizaje, pero también pone en peligro sus vidas. Desde que se suspendieron las clases por el covid, Dylan quien padece de epilepsia, ha presentado más convulsiones, deteriorando más su salud física y mental. Pudieran disminuir si recibe el medicamento necesario. Otros alumnos, por su misma condición, ante la falta de medicamento y con el confinamiento han mostrado mayor inquietud, ansiedad, conductas de agresión y autoagresión.
Mi tía Luz es maestra en el Centro de Atención múltiple Cuicacalli, una escuela de educación especial donde ellos y otros más de 100 niños toman clases. Esa escuela, ha sido una alternativa para que esos pequeños puedan tener una mejor calidad de vida. Además de brindar la atención que necesitan por sus discapacidades, los docentes y padres de familia han buscado apoyarse mutuamente, por lo que han formado un pequeño dispensario para dotar, dentro de sus posibilidades, de medicamentos a los alumnos que más lo requieren. Por la pandemia, la escuela se encuentra cerrada y por tanto, el dispensario no está disponible.
Entre el 40 y 50% de los alumnos, requiere de tratamiento médico especializado, la mayoría depende de servicios públicos y en dichas instituciones no cubren la mayor parte de los medicamentos. Aún que pudieran tener una cita médica, no siempre cuentan con los recursos para pagar los pasajes del transporte público, y menos aún para surtir una receta. Algunos medicamentos llegan a costar el equivalente a dos semanas de trabajo de un padre o madre de estos niños. La mayoría de las familias vive del comercio informal..
La situación se ha agravado durante la pandemia. El “quédate en casa” para prevenir contagios ha desplomado los ingresos de muchas de esas familias.Hospitales como el Hospital Psiquiatrico “Dr. Samuel Ramirez Moreno”, el más cercano a la comunidad, no está prestando atención. De igual manera, las clases a distancia y la falta de servicios de diferentes instituciones como los Centros de Rehabilitación del DIF, donde muchos de ellos recibían terapias, provocan que estas niñas, niños y adolescentes queden a la deriva.
Sin dispensario, sin servicios médicos, ¿qué futuro les espera?
Ayúdanos a apoyar a estos niños abandonados por un sistema que ignora su existencia. No piden que les resolvamos la vida, solo un pequeño respiro para continuar luchando por sobrevivir y lograr el derecho a la vida que todos deberíamos tener.
Con tu donativo, lograremos que al menos 23 de ellos, quienes son los que más lo requieren, tengan la dotación de medicamentos necesarios para tres meses, que es el tiempo que se espera que los servicios médicos especializados y las escuelas se restablezcan.
