Those of you who know Liz & her precious angel baby Harley know how much they love each other. For those of you who don't know Harley, she's a 6 year old, sweet pup who isn't afraid to make it known what she wants. She's sassy, silly, and one of the best good girls in the world.
A little bit before Christmas, Harley developed a cough that the vet initially thought was kennel cough. After some x-rays, it turns out that Harley has a large mass on her lung that the oncologist believes is primary lung cancer. It's unclear whether it's carcinoma or sarcoma because the mass is too deep for them to test, but it is very dangerous to Harley if left untreated.
The only solution they've given is for Harley to undergo a lobectomy (removing the affected lung). Not only is this surgery necessary to save Harley's life, it would immediately ease her discomfort from the mass.
Liz, being the fantastic dog mom that she is, has opted for the surgery, which will take place on February 28th. But the vet has given her an estimate of $7k-$10k. After the surgery, they'll biopsy the mass, and then we'll know if Harley needs additional treatment like chemo (which will cost even more).
This is obviously a huge, unexpected expense. And even though she hasn't asked for help, I know she has such a big, wonderful community of friends and family that love her and Harley and are more than willing to step up to ease the burden on Liz and Harley (both financial and mental).
Anything you can give helps. Let's get our Harley girl over this nasty bump (pun intended) and get her healthy again so we can enjoy her sass and (sometimes reluctant) snuggles for years to come.
