My name is Rosanne Calabrese and the picture on this page is mine. It was taken in 2010 after returning home from a 6 day stay in the hospital. My life was totally turned around when I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I had what is known as a thyroid storm and had to be rushed by ambulance to the hospital. Outside of stabilizing me with a very strong medication, the only "treatment" for my condition was to radiate and kill my thyroid or surgically remove it forever. But, being an Acupuncture Physician and herbalist, I felt that killing part of my body and replacing its function with a synthetic drug was the wrong way to go. Luckily my husband and I had both the financial resources as well as the natural and holistic connections to find another way. In the end, I found a natural way to heal my illness and keep all of my body parts. The best part was that I used what I learned then to help my patients today!
But this fund-raiser is not about me. It is about so many of the people who have contacted me (through reading my story won my blog letnatureheal.blogspot.com or from reading my book, C.U.R.E.) that can't afford to do what I did to get healthy. Nearly every day I get a new email from someone who has been diagnosed with Graves disease. Most of the people who contact me are easily able to afford the dietary changes, herbs and office visits that allow their bodies to heal and reverse the disease process of Graves or other health issues that they face.
Then there are those who can not afford natural therapies. They pay into an insurance system that does not give them the choice to use natural treatment which would allow them to keep their body parts and heal from within. Instead they are faced with surgery, harsh drugs or chemical therapies. Yet, because insurance pays for it, they have no option but to follow a treatment plan that they do not believe in. Worse yet, because they pay into the insurance system they do not have the finances to pay for insurance AND follow a natural therapy program.
So many times in my practice, I have given away services, treatments and herbs. I refuse to turn someone away because they are not as blessed as I was to have a wonderful husband and resources to help me. But I am one person with a small healing center and I can not help everyone who is in need for free. Thus came the idea of "Finally a Chance!"
"Finally a Chance" is an ongoing fund raiser and a way to raise money to be placed in a scholarship fund for individuals who can not afford the natural and holistic therapy that helped me. The money raised will be placed in an account and held in trust with a 3 person panel of trustees. Those trustees will make the decision as to who gets financial help from the scholarship and how much of the program the fund will pay for.
The scholarship candidate will fill out paperwork explaining why they chose this type of treatment and why they cannot afford it without the aid of the scholarship. They will not have to disclose their medical condition to the board. The board will select the best candidate(s) based on financial need and issue the check as services are rendered.
Our goal is to raise enough money for multiple people in need to receive at least 6 months worth of natural therapies and herbs to help them heal. The photos on this page show the difference in my health BEFORE and AFTER Grave's Disease all through natural therapies.
