Friends & family,
Our dear friend Lee Cambata is fighting breast cancer for the second time, in 18 months. We have started this campaign to help raise funds for everyday expenses and medical bills. Helping Lee, her husband Ian, and their son James, will allow them to focus their energy on treatment, healing, and family time.
Lee's Story-
In the spring of 2017, Lee was on vacation with Ian and James, when she found a lump in her left breast. A few weeks later after mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies, it was confirmed that Lee, age 32, had breast cancer. Prior to treatment Lee and Ian decided to harvest embryos in hopes to once day grow their family and give James a sibling. Lee underwent 16 weeks of chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, node resection and radiation. It was a long battle that brought tears, fear, fatigue, hair loss and sleepless nights. However, by Christmas 2017, just six months after being diagnosed, Lee was cancer free.
Two weeks ago, during a follow up appointment Lee was told she had an enlarged lymph node. Mammograms, MRI's and PET scans were performed only to find that this aggressive cancer has returned. This time however the cancer has spread to other surrounding lymph nodes, categorizing it as a stage III with localized metastases. Lee is waiting to be placed into a clinical trail for immunotherapy in hopes to beat breast cancer once and for all. The details of her treatment are still being configured by her oncology team, and updates will be posted.
While this diagnosis may be crushing to us, her family and her friends, Lee keeps her smile, Everyday. She has been resilient, hopeful, brave and upbeat while keeping up with her job, health coaching, family, friends and toddler.
