Dwight & Diane Post-Liver Transplant

Donation protected
A little more than 10 years ago Dwight was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis (NASH). When all of this started, he was told he would need a liver transplant at some point. Within the last year, Dwight has been experiencing an increase in symptoms related to his liver not functioning properly. Some of the most noticeable were being tired, in constant pain, and ascites. He had to cut back on working which resulted in less income.

Fast forward to February 19, 2023, the day he was blessed with a donated liver. The notification of the liver came unexpectedly; therefore, there wasn't as much time to prepare as Dwight and Diane had hoped. As of now, Dwight and Diane need to stay in Rochester--near the hospital--so he can be closely monitored. Upon discharge home, both Dwight and Diane will continue to be out of work for some time to allow for recovery, learning how to navigate their new lives, continuing to attend doctor appointments, and avoiding people and germs that could get Dwight sick.

Dwight, Diane, and their family have been flooded with offers from generous people wanting to find ways to help, and, as of now, there isn't much needed. They are staying in a hotel, which is covered by their insurance, and they have some temporary meal vouchers for food from the cafeteria. It will be in the coming months when finances are going to get tighter as being out of work will have a cumulative effect. It has been hard for Dwight and Diane to accept any help that has been offered because they do not want people to think they have to help or put themselves out. This GoFundMe has been set up to facilitate support from the many generous people who are offering. Dwight and Diane are not looking for this to be a money-making opportunity. If they receive more donations than they need, the plan is to donate it elsewhere and not gain from it.

The whole Cadwell family has been humbled by the outreach, thoughts, prayers, and generosity of everyone. Please don't feel obligated to donate, continued thoughts and prayers are just as valuable and appreciated.
