Summer Mission Trip to Tokyo

Four summers ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve God in Tokyo, Japan. The experiences that I had there and the interactions with the citizens were so unforgettable, and God’s work in that city was so evident!

 The summer going into my sophomore year of high school, there was a video about the mission opportunity to Tokyo that was shown to hundreds of kids my age at Super Summer. I remembered seeing the video two years prior, but the thought of actually going on one of the trips never crossed my mind. It wasn’t until one night that I talked to my brother about it, and we both decided that we would attend the informational meeting the next day during lunch time. We went to the meeting, and I signed up to receive more information about the trip, still not thinking much about the opportunity. Getting home from Super Summer, we received an email about the trip, and we applied.

My brother and I were accepted to the trip, and we raised the money and more to go. I still remember being on the 14-hour flight to Tokyo with a lot on my mind, but nothing about how I would allow God to use me, and I wasn't worried about the interactions with the citizens of Tokyo or even getting to know my team a bit more. Getting off the plane, you could just feel the darkness, and that’s when it all became reality to me. I was no longer surrounded by the comfort of being in what’s considered the “bible belt”. There were so many people walking around that seriously have not even experienced God, and so many others that have never even heard of Him. God really opened my eyes at that time and continued to show me more during the time that I was there.

I’ve applied a few times, after coming back, for different opportunities, but I was never able to go because of family health issues and school. You have no idea how excited I am to be blessed with an opportunity to go back as an intern! I just need a little help raising the money to go back. There is no limit, nor am I asking for huge donations, but prayers are definitely needed! Any donation amount is a blessing and a HUGE help for me! I will continue to keep everybody updated on the progress that I have with raising the money.
