Cancer Sucks: Let’s Fight It With Dwaine McGee II!
Dwaine McGee is a man of many facets. He is a son, an older brother, a first grandchild, a nephew, a 2004 graduate of Chicago’s Morgan Park High School, a husband, a father and… a cancer fighter!
Dwaine – The Cancer Fighter: Dwaine McGee II was born on January 23rd, 1985 with Neurofibromatosis (NF) and has six non-cancerous tumors in his brain. In October 2014 a test revealed that an NF tumor that is growing in Dwaine’s right shoulder, is the size of a grapefruit and wraps around his armpit has transformed to stage 4 cancer. This causes lack of movement in his arm. Dwaine has Stage 4 Sarcoma Cancer. Dwaine has already begun chemotherapy. His mounting medical expenses have placed an extreme burden upon him and his family. Moreover, his employer has been slow to approve his disability. Dwaine and his wife have mounting bills – rent, household expenses, and medical expenses.
Dwaine – The Family Man: As the eldest of seven children, Dwaine developed a natural gift for caring for and nurturing others. It was common for him to take on the “older” brother role although he was only a few years older than his siblings. After dating for 3 years, Dwaine married Dominique in March 2014. The couple was expecting their first child. Sadly, only a few hours before they were to say their vows, Dwaine and Dominique lost their child Ava, 15 minutes after she was born.
Dwaine – The Man: Witty. Hard-working. Inspiring. Fighter. Hero. Humble. Gentle. Smart. Christian. These are just a few of the words friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers have used to describe Dwaine. Dwaine has been employed with UPS for seven years.
The family and friends of Dwaine are uniting to raise funds to help with his battle against Sarcoma Cancer. It is our hope that your support and encouragement will help ease the financial burden and emotional hardships that Dwaine will endure with chemotherapy and surgeries that will take place over the next few months.
