Last year, the best friend a person could ever have found out he had prostate cancer. After handling this information silently for a while, he reached out to friends and family with a request of humor, not financial or physical support…humor. “It is said that ‘a merry heart does good like a medicine’” he posted, “and since I’m feeling particularly pitiful today, I’m wondering if you could give me some comedy chemotherapy!” It is difficult for him to ask for anything from anyone and this was no different. Not one week later, however, he’d already received hundreds of phone calls, text messages, emails and notes filled with jokes and well wishes. Moved by the massive outpouring of support he responded with, “I'm humbled by your rapid response, heartfelt encouragement, wise counsel and pure tomfoolery. I'm well aware that I don't deserve any of it and I'm thankful you gave it anyway. Thank you just doesn't seem powerful enough but thank you!”
Dominic Ross is a father, husband, son, nephew and most dear friend. He’s also a writer, director, actor, comedian and one of the hardest working independent filmmakers in Arizona. He’s also only 42.
Now, Dominic needs more than comic relief. As independent filmmakers, we rarely get a chance to have health insurance, let alone health insurance that's affordable and comprehensive enough to truly assist in a situation like this. Dominic is at the point that he needs financial support for his medical bills and to assist with living expenses as he and his family work through appointments and treatments. Right now $10 is like a hundred and $100 is like a thousand. He’ll never ask you himself for this, so I’m asking for him. Please, those of you who can, would you donate to help get Dominic back to 100% healthy?
