Up with People Tuition

Ever since I was a little boy I have always been influenced by Up With People.
When I was younger, at age 7, I helped out at a retirement community during Christmas and gave the poor people food all over Mexico City. What an experience!We did this several times during the year, many years.
I did this with my mother, my father (Sergio Galindo) and about 40 of his mates. All of them travelled for one year, all over the world, with the Educational organization Up with People (www.upwithpeople.org) learning and giving of themselves to people.
Since then, we have moved from Mexico City to Cancun.
At the age of 15, by participating on a written essay on why I wanted to participate, I was given a scholarship to go to Camp Up With People. Three weeks with kids my age from different cultures, countries. All working together and having fun while learning!
I went back the following summer and I just arrived home from my 4th and last year of camp. This year I got the opportunity to be a Leadership Camper, which helped me grow a lot as a person.
This was my last year at the camp and I am now ready and old enough to travel with Up With People. This has always been my dream, and I am about to live it.
Up With People is a non-profit organization that provides the opportunity to travel with a purpose, a purpose in which is supported by performing, learning about different cultures, finding yourself and helping the community. Up With People travels around 2-3 different continents within 6 months. The travellers stay with host families to embrace the culture, food and lifestyle of the country.
I love to travel and meet new and different people from all over the world. I will be travelling with Up With People for 1 year and I believe that after this year, I can make a positive change in the world and hopefully leave an impact wherever I go. I also love singing and dancing. I remember when I was a little boy I thought I was a backstreet boy and even had my little show.
More important, I believe this year with Up with People will help me make the right decision regarding my future.
Being a non-profit organization, Up with People has a cost. A full year participant in the organization must pay $26,000 US Dlls. Quite a challenge, especially for an average middle class kid my age, in a country with serious economic difficulties.
As soon as I returned from camp this year, I started working in my dad’s office.My job is to do the paperwork and provide with any extra help needed.
Before the summer of 2014 I sold my car to be able to start my savings for Up With People;I also applied for some scholarships that the organization give and I got a “golden passport” - a scholarship that you get from an alumni, in this case my father.
Both my parent’s are selling some of their stuff to help me cover the cost. In the 4 months I have left to save money I won’t have enough by doing what I am doing at the moment, which is:$2,000 worth of scholarships, $3,500 from selling my car and $3,000 from both my parents based on what they are selling.
They have also agreed to cover most of my travelling and personal expenses.This is why I would greatly appreciate if you could donate a few dollars to help me live my dream.
All you need to do is create a PayPal account (if you don’t already have one) and donate a few dollars… as “few” as you possibly can! ;)
In return for your donation I will be sending photos to let you know how am I doing, the places I am visiting, the activities we are doing and the shows we are performing. I will do it weekly… promise!
Of course, if any of you has a job that I can perform during the next four months to earn that money, do not hesitate to contact me, I am all ears for good fund raising ideas.
