DVConnect Pets in Crisis Program
Donation protected
Pets in Crisis is a foster care program to help facilitate safe refuge for animals at risk until they can be reunited with their families, it is administered by DVConnect in partnership with RSPCA Qld.
Yesterday, DVConnect was advised by RSPCA Qld that they can no longer continue with the 10 year statewide Pets in Crisis program to care for and house pets escaping domestic violence due to a lack of funding.
DVConnect has contributed bits and pieces and been a part of fundraising events for Pets in Crisis program but it has been tough going.
We cannot lose this program and have to call on everyone for help at least in the interim until we can find a long term supporter.
Please donate what you can and pass this on to all your animal loving friends to see what help we can put together to keep this vital program going.
DVConnect approached the RSPCA over 10 years ago about such a program because their counsellors were distressed at not being able to offer safety for the pets of women escaping domestic violence, many of whom chose not to leave home because of that.
DVConnect is very grateful to the RSPCA Qld for their amazing partnership for all this time and we can appreciate this was a very difficult decision.
Our goal is $100,000 which will fund the program for 6 months. The annual cost of the program is approximately $200,000 with almost 250 pets assisted in 2016.
