Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Alder Hey Children's Charity and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
As some of you may know, I was a patient at Alder Hey when I was 12 years old, not 6 months before this I was told that I would need surgery, and this time flew. I had Idiopathic Scoliosis that was deteriorating rapidly... In the June of 2013 I had my correction surgery, I was supposed to be in the hospital for minimum 14 days, but after the amazing help from nurses and the brilliant Dr Davidson completing my surgery beautifully, after 10 days I had wiggled my toes, learned how to walk again, stretching my pyjamas to make them fit again, climbed the stairs and was ready to head home.
The nurses and doctors at Alder Hey changed my life forever and helped me over come one of the biggest surgeries. They fed me, washed me, watched Twilight with me, braided my hair and talked rubbish with me and I couldn't have been more grateful for them. As a scared 12 year old they allowed all my friends in at any time, where inundated with balloons and flowers and I couldn't have thanked them more - but hopefully together we can thank them this way!
12 years later I now work in the Special Feeds unit, working in Alder Hey and making the small differences I can is something I am super proud of. I am now aware of how much goes on behind the scenes in this hospital and I hope that me doing this crazy adventure will help bring all the funding the hospital needs. I am proud to be both a patient/warrior of Alder Hey and a worker.
Thank you everyone in advance for the donations, the love, the support and for following me on this journey!
