Dustin's Transplant Team

Some of you may be aware that my brother Dustin Norris is set to undergo a kidney and pancreatic transplant, due to diabetes that he has battled since childhood, taking away almost all of his kidney function.  Over the last few years, Dustin's health has deteriorated and doctor's have said that it is time to go ahead with these transplants in order to save his life.  Normally, finding a kindey can take up to a decade or more, but a really amazing person has come forward to be Dustin's living donor.  While Dustin is very fortunate to have an inordinate amount of support, both from family and friends, the medical bills and travel expenses have already begun to pile up.  Despite insurance covering many expenses, insurance does not pay for everything.  There is a gap in what Dustin has to pay out of pocket, including medications, and transportation to and from New Orleans.  It is estimated that the first year cost of a kidney transplant is about $116,000.  Even at 20% out of pocket, the total comes to more than $20,000.  Anyone who has ever met Dustin knows that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of this life changing transplant.
