Duncan's home care

This is Duncan, he is my husband, my life and my soul my everything.  We have been together for 18 years.  He has a rare form of MD (so rare in fact that he and his brother are the only two reported cases).  He has been in a wheelchair for the last 10 years - he fought to stay out of the chair for the longest time.  He fought all his life to be treated with respect and to be treated as "normal" and not like someone with a disabilty.   I never treated him as if he was, and didn't let any one else be disrespectful.  He is a warm, caring and thoughtful man, with so much love and joy.  My life and my world is so much better because of him as are the lives of those who know him.    We have been together through broken toes, ankle, leg, broken arm, many falls, bruises and made it through with laughter and love.  This changed recently when we were informed his liver is failing and he is not expected to have more than 3 years left.    Over the last couple of months he has been in and out of the hospital, we get one thing back to "normal" and then something else happens..  He has for most of his life been a strong fighter.  (His mother was told when he was born that he wouldn't live past infancy and then later was told he wouldn't live past 20 - he's 47 now) Which is why I love him so much. He has also not been one to ask for help.  Which is what is making this so hard - we want him to live at home for the last part of his life.  Unfortunately we cannot afford to pay to have some one come in as much as needed (while I am at work - I have exhuasted all of my leave and any time I take off now to be with him may not be covered)    Which is why this page is being set up.   We need funds to help pay for a in home care giver and medical supplies... just so he can be comforable and safe, so he can be in my life as long as possible.
