Dudley's Surgery

I know we have all had the one dog in our lives that tugs on your heartstrings and becomes an instant member of the family, for us that is Dudley. He has been the best dog anyone could ask for and we cant imagine life without him in it. Yesterday seemed like a normal day, Dudley was fine, he begged for his dinner, met Evan at the door when he arrived home and lounged on the sofa with us in the evening. Around 9:00pm last night Dudley was on the floor when he let out a horrific scream that lasted what felt like minutes. Both of us lunged for him to see what was wrong and he was frozen in place and shaking uncontrolably, when he went to try and move his back legs dragged behind him, we knew instantly this was bad.  Five years earlier Dudley had blown a disk in his back and had to undergo spinal surgery so from time to time he would have some struggles but nothing this severe. Today, Dudley with be under the knife again, but this time things are much more serious. He is now 10 years old and has extensive damage to not just one but two disks in his spine. With that he also has spinal bruising which can have its own set of problems as a spinal disease called Myelomalacia, which is usually fatal. Dudley's chances of recovering and having use of his legs again is only a 50/50 chance but as he is a member of our family its a chance we were willing to take. We are trying to stay hopeful on the outcome of his surgery but the next couple days will determine his fate. The photo above is of Dudley on his way from emergency to the surgery center today, the poor guy is basically stuck in this position with his head pulled back from the pressure on his spine. More than anything we need your prayers and love and if that is what you have to give then great, we will take it! However, once all is said and done Dudley's surgery and afer care is going to cost us around $10,000.00 so although we are not wanting to ask we are throwing our pride out the window and asking for your help. Please feel no obligation, Evan and I would work 3 jobs to make this possible for Dudley but if you have it and you're willing to help this little guy out we would feel so full of grace for your generosity.
