No one fights alone

Our dear friend Maria was just diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma peritonei. Pseudomyxoma peritonei is a rare malignant growth characterized by the progressive accumulation of mucus-secreting (mucinous) tumor cells within the abdomen and pelvis. The tumors cause fibrosis of tissues and impede digestion or organ function, and if left untreated, the tumors and mucin they produce will fill the abdominal cavity. In her case it has already spread. Unfortunately the closest specialist is in Texas. She will be starting Chemo in the next few weeks.

For those of you that have had the pleasure to get to know Maria over the years you know that she is one of a kind. She is generous and kind hearted with a great sense of humor. She is a special person with an upbeat attitude and incredible spirit. Maria has a great deal of friends and family supporting her. While she is highly optimistic and surrounded by love and support it is inevitable that her medical and daily expenses will begin to add up throughout her course of treatment, especially while she is out of work.
