Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre via SJC Y12 & ‘24 Sydney Marathon
Donation protected
Hello all
I'm Richard Eggleston, a proud Dubbo resident and passionate long distance runner.
I am a teacher of St Johns College (Dubbo) and I am looking to help our Year 12 cohort with their fundraising efforts this year. Their nominated charity is the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre (Connecting Community Services). They are a local not-for-profity organisation that specialises in
- Low cost before and after school childcare and vacation care
- Services for Seniors (digital skills, domestic maintenance, home modifications, social support)
- Youth Services - Support for at risk students, youth and family services, youth night patrol
- General community services - Advice and referrals, computer access, food for those in need, room hire
- Families - Domestic and family violence counselling, migrant support, women's safety
The vehicle for this campaign will be my attempt at the 2024 Sydney Marathon, to be held 15th September. Upon completion this will be my 7th completed marathon.
You can make a donation in one of two ways
- A one off donation/pledge and/or
- A pledge for a certain amount of money for every minute (or part thereof) under 4hrs 30 minutes I achieve, to be paid after the event. View the pledge form here - https://forms.gle/LFKumny4uBvWp1Mo8
For the latter, in the interest of transparency, recent performances of a 2hr Half Marathon (21k) and a 25:36 Parkrun (5k) point towards a 4:15 and 4:10 Marathon time respectively. However in reality, an April 2024 attempt at Newcastle Marathon yielded a 4:43 and Sydney is a notoriously hilly course - so who knows what will happen!
Collected monies will be donated to the St Johns College (Dubbo) Year 12 2024 Fundraising account once all the money is in, ideally within 48-72 hours of the event occurring.
