I hope you all are doing well. As I’m sure all of you know, this year has been one for the record books. There is so much turmoil and tension in our nation and the world right now it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Regardless of all the craziness, I hope you and your friends/family are all safe and healthy.
I, too, have been struggling with all the unpredictables that 2020 has brought me. I’m currently a junior at Iowa State (or Zoom University because all my classes were online). I’m majoring in English Education and Journalism and Mass Communications (yeah, I added a major, I’ll graduate eventuallyッ). On top of school, I am working three jobs. I still work at the coffee shop in Story City, and now I am a patient care tech at Mary Greeley ER and a spin coach at Campus Cycle. With all the craziness this year has brought, along with school and my jobs, I have needed to lean on God and His will for my life. At this point, I believe setting aside all my Earthly goals and focusing on Him for six months is something He is calling me to do.
As you may know from Facebook or Instagram, I was planning to participate in a Discipleship Training School and Outreach mission trip through YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Maui, where I would go to Southeast Asia for Outreach. However, due to the pandemic, outreach location, and school, I had to look at different locations.
Through many months of prayer and conversation with my parents and the YWAM base, I have decided to go to the YWAM Paris Connect. Here, much like the other Discipleship Training School, I will spend three months in France preparing and growing in my faith and three months in 4-6 major European cities sharing the love and good news of God.
As there are still many unknowns due to the pandemic, the leaders at the base in Paris have been working with their local officials to find a way for me and many others to attend. In saying all of this, on January 4th, 2021, less than one month from now, I will leave for Croatia. There, I will spend 2 weeks quarantining with other Americans due to the travel restrictions that are still in place. After the two weeks, I will fly to Paris and begin my DTS.
As I prepare for my trip, I am full of excitement, but I am also nervous about the unpredictability of the world right now. As I have been praying and will continue to pray, I ask for your prayers as well. Please pray for my heart to be prepared to serve and focus on the Lord. Pray for my parents and siblings, as I will be out of the country for over half a year. Pray for safe travels to and from each destination and for the team’s health and well-being.
I also ask that you prayerfully consider giving to my mission fund to reach my goal of $8,000. Although the cost for this mission trip seems high, I believe God will meet my needs and provide the means for me to grow in Him and do His work. I am a little over halfway to my goal but still have a ways to go. If you would like to help me reach my financial goal, you can mail a check to the address below. No gift is too small, and all are much appreciated!
I look forward to this opportunity and will be sure to keep you updated through the process. Thank you for investing, whether through prayer or donations!
Happy holidays and stay healthy,
