Prayers for Dano....... Debbie’s husband, Mike and Sara O’Leary’s dad and a better friend than any person could ever ask for.
On Friday, August 1st, 2014, Dan collapsed at a house party in the middle of telling a story. He had just suffered a major heart attack. I don’t believe it is necessary to provide all of the details here, however, after 12 hours in Intensive Care at Owen Sound, he was airlifted to University Hospital in London.
Dan is currently not strong enough to undergo Heart Surgery so he continues to live with an unknown amount of damage to his heart. He has also suffered complete Kidney Failure and we are advised he will require dialysis for the rest of his life. In addition, he was oxygen deprived for some time and has suffered some cognitive, memory and motor skill loss.
The doctors advised that Dan will be in the London hospitals for several months to come and then it will be necessary for him to stay in a long term care facility in Owen Sound. He will also need to travel to Hanover 3 times per week for Dialysis.
There have been so many concerned people asking how they can help Dan and his family. Our hearts ache for what they must be going through.
There are fundraisers being planned and we will publish more details here as soon as they are available. Please, if you can contribute here as well it would be of tremendous help.
It's difficult to know how much Debbie, Mike and Sara will need to spend. Things like daily visits to the hospital far from home, hotel rooms,eating out and loss of income all add up, not to mention the ongoing expense of long term care. Therefore, we have set up this account in the hopes of alleviating some of the financial burden for the O’Leary family.
