Nate's Family

Many of you know Jerry.  His son Nate experienced a terrible loss that hit very close to home for me last week.

He was awakened in the middle of the night to smell and sounds of a burning fire.  Thankfully he and his 4 children all made it out of the house unharmed, however they did lose their family pet.  Their house was a total loss.  They are currently displaced for housing and will need to find a short term solution while the rebuilding takes place. which will be a year-long process.   While there are things in place like the Red Cross, insurance and other things, they take time and the out of pocket financial expenses add up quickly and are immediate.

When I was 11 I went through the exact same situation, woken up in the middle of the night to the suffocating smoke of your house on fire.  We lost our entire house as well as our German Shepherd who alerted us something was wrong.  Everything we ever owned and cherished was lost.  While the most important thing is that none of us were hurt, losing everything to an adult, much less a child is terrifying.

I'm hoping to raise some money for the family to help ease the financial pains of starting to rebuild.  The family will need to buy all new clothes, household items and many of the items we all take for granted.  In addition they children are very active in sports which are  exceptionally costly items to replace.  With Christmas being so close there is much to be thankful for but also they have a ton on their plate.
