El sábado 25 de julio, mi esposo y yo fuimos a trabajar a Knightdale, NC. Se suponía que era una reparación rápida de una puerta. Poco sabíamos que esa trabajo se convertiría en nuestra peor pesadilla. Mi esposo casi había terminado cuando lo escuché llamarme porque un clavo rebotó de la pistola de clavos sobre su estómago y rebotó de alguna manera y entro en su ojo. No le dio mucha importancia en ese momento y me pidió que mirara para ver si veía el clavo. Al principio, no lo vi, pero luego, cuando comencé a tocar, sentí el clavo e inmediatamente me asusté. Entré en pánico, pero él me pidió que lo sacara. No sé por qué, pero en situaciones como estas no piensas completamente y todo tipo de emociones te pasan por la cabeza, así que lo saqué. Dijo que estaba bien y que su visión se volvió blanca. Entré en mas pánico y me desmayé. Después de despertar, salimos inmediatamente a la sala de emergencias más cercana. Cuando llegamos a Wake Med, no lo vieron allí y lo transportaron en ambulancia al Hospital Duke en Durham, NC, Cuando llegamos a Duke, nos dijeron que necesitaba una cirugía de emergencia. Como muchos, la pandemia ya ha causado una tensión financiera y ahora este accidente inesperado se suma a ella. No tenemos seguro medico y este accidente no fue a través de una compañía donde él podría pedir asistencia por ese medio. No es elegible para ningún beneficio del gobierno, por eso he creado esta cuenta. Regresará en dos semanas para revisar su ojo. Existe la posibilidad de una segunda cirugía y me preocupa el costo involucrado en todo esto. La visita al médico y los medicamentos son pagadas al contado. Solo las gotas para los ojos que tenemos que comprar son más de $200. Mi esposo es quien gana la mayoría de los ingresos de nuestro hogar y por ahora sabemos que estará desempleado y sin ninguna fuente de ingresos durante al menos unos meses. Les pido a familiares y amigos que nos ayuden en este momento difícil. Mi esposo tiene el corazón más grande y ha ayudado a otros sin dudarlo. On Saturday July 25, my husband and I went to work in Knightdale, North Carolina. It was supposed to be a quick door repair. Little did we know that that quick repair would become our worst nightmare. My husband was almost done when I hear him call me because a nail had bounced from the nail gun onto his stomach and bounced somehow into his eye. He didn't think much of it at the time and asked that I look to see if I saw the nail. At first, I didn't see it but then as I started touching around, I felt the nail and I immediately got scared. I panicked but he asked that I pull it out. I don't know why but in situations like these you don't fully think and all sort of emotions all going thru your head, so I pulled it out. He said he was fine and that his vision became white. I panicked some more and passed out. After I woke up, we immediately left to the closest emergency room. When we arrived at Wake Med, they did not see him there and transported him via ambulance to Duke Hospital in Durham, NC. Once we arrived at Duke, we were told he needed emergency surgery. As many the pandemic has already caused a financial strain and now this unexpected accident to add to it. We don't have insurance and this accident was not through a company where he could file workers compensation. He is not eligible for any government benefits which is why I've created this account. He is to return in two weeks to check on his eye. There is a possibility of a second surgery and I am concerned of the cost involved in all this. The doctor’s visit and medicines are to be paid out of pocket. Just the eye drops that we have to purchase are over $200. My husband provides the majority of the income for our household and for now we know that he will be unemployed and without any source of income for at least a few months. I’m asking family and friends to please help us through this difficult time. My husband has the biggest heart and has helped others without hesitation. I know that if ever you or your family ever needs him in the future, he will be there for you as well. Thank you.
