Friday Night Talks with D.T. Suzuki

Tax deductible

The ABSC needs your help in publishing a new D.T. Suzuki book. Suzuki is best known as the man who introduced Zen and Shin Buddhism to America.

Our man in Kyoto recently uncovered missing chapters on a series of lectures Suzuki gave on Shin Buddhism back in the early 1950s. Friday Night Talks with D.T. Suzuki on Shin Buddhism, Shinran, and Saichi will have a new wholly re-edited version of Shin Buddhism. D.T. gave lectures on Buddhism at Columbia, Harvard, and other universities around the country. He also gave a series of talks at the American Buddhist Academy and the New York Buddhist Church.

Also included is an unpublished lecture entitled “What is Shin Buddhism” along with his dedication address at the unveiling of the Shinran Shonin statue in New York City in 1955. The significance of this statue is that it once stood in a park overlooking Hiroshima and witnessed the first Atomic Bomb explosion (See trailer). The book will conclude with a collection of Suzuki’s favorite poems.

We are thrilled to bring to light these hidden treasures on Shin Buddhism written by one of the most prolific Buddhist scholars in the world, D.T. Suzuki.

Would you please support this essential publication, Friday Night Talks with D.T. Suzuki on Shin Buddhism, Shinran, and Saichi? All donations are tax-deductible.
