Help for Alexis

My beautiful niece Alexis was born on Oct.19 2017. She was transported within hours to the Alberta Children's hospital in Calgary and in the days to follow she was diagnosed with a rare condition called cloacal malformation.  A cloacal malformation is when the rectum, genital tract and urinary tract have merged into one exit out of the body instead of the 3 being separate outlets. Within days the doctors had to perform a colostomy and place a catheter into the bladder which are permanent until surgery can be done.
Recently my sister received news that the doctors at ACH would not perform the needed surgery here and that she needs to take Alexis to the States.  She also received the devastating news that even with the surgery there is only a 20% chance of it being successful to the point that Alexis can have the ostomy and catheter removed.
I cannot imagine the heartbreak this news has caused her as she struggles to come to term with what her daughters future will look like.  The constant appointments to and from the Alberta Children's Hospital, the medical supplies needed for Alex's ostomy care and medication and now the expense of a trip to the US (transport & surgery are covered but not Annmarie's lodging) have created a financial strain that no one going through this needs to worry about. Our prayers are with Alexis through this time and I'd like to thank each and everyone who can donate or even share her story.
