OUR MISSION
As cities around the globe continue to implement mandatory stay-at-home orders for “non-essential” workers, a growing number of us have the advantage of combating the Coronavirus pandemic from the relative safety of our own home. Unfortunately, our great city of Chicago’s first responders (Police & Fire Departments), front-line professionals (medical field personnel), as well as, our National Guard troops stationed here are not afforded that luxury. They dutifully enter ground zero of the pandemic with our health and safety in mind every day, and with little, to no regard for their own.
While it is understood that we cannot physically be there to assist these heroes on a daily basis, we, at DSTRKT Chicago grill in the heart of Wicker Park believe that it is our patriotic duty to let these upstanding, civil servants of the state know that their efforts and sacrifices do not go unnoticed and are truly appreciated. And, in our opinion, what a better way to show our appreciation than to “serve” those who serve us! As of today, in conjunction with our establishment’s fund-raising efforts, we have already hand-delivered over 1000 free meals to members of these vital businesses and organizations in our community (Norwegian Hospital, 14th District Police & Fire Departments, National Guard troops, and IL Dept of Public Health employees), as we “pay it forward”.
We have personally had the pleasure of seeing the positive impact that these small, unexpected gifts can have on an overworked entity’s overall outlook and morale. As we enter what is widely believed to be the “peak” of Covid-19’s havoc on our city’s citizens, and in turn, our emergency services, we are now asking for the general public’s financial assistance so that we may continue our noble mission to put smiles on the faces of these larger-than-life folks through the donation of these delicious, quality cooked meals. TAX DEDUCTIBLE
Your donation is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law and 100% (less the standard fee charged by GoFundMe.org) of it will go directly toward the purchase of the food/ingredients/supplies needed by us to provide these meals to our front-line responders. They will be hand-delivered to them every day on every weekend until the funds are exhausted and/or the current quarantine order is lifted. In the unlikely event that money from this cause is left over, we will be donating it to various charities operating in our local community. Updates on the distribution of meals will be posted here, Instagram, and on our business’ website
