Surgery for Heather

This is my friend and co-worker Heather. She is a kind and talented surgical dental assistant with a surgery need of her own this Christmas.
You will NOT hear her complain or see her struggle. You WILL hear her laugh no matter where you are in the office, and see that she loves her job. You would never know about the daily pain she has to manage or the challenges she’s had to overcome ON HER OWN… but it was hard to miss when she started walking with a cane recently because the cartilage at her right hip had finally torn.
She has a bone defect that has caused the cartilage around her hip to seperate. The only way to treat this is with a surgery that requires shaving down her hip bone and then laparoscopically re-attaching the cartilage. This is not a hip replacement surgery, it’s a more invasive procedure with a longer recovery... she knows all about what to expect because it happened to her other hip 3 years ago! We weren’t working together then, and she was stuck in an abusive relationship with injuries that should have hospitalized her.
Since joining our office, she has found a work family and support system that motivated her to get out of an unhealthy relationship and live on her own! Finding a new home at the beginning of COVID was a challenge, and she started a 2nd job working 7 days a week.
She needs $15,000 for this surgery plus physical therapy, help with living expenses and meals, encouragement and prayers. Heather is very grateful for the help she is getting from her Aunt coming from Arkansas for the first week, and her work family has plans to help her through this 6-8 week recovery. We wanted to open up a chance for others to support Heather in any way you can, big or small.
This is a warrior woman who has never given up or lost hope. Please help us bolster that hope and be the ones that ASSIST HER through this next surgery. We need her out of pain and back to work ASAP! Until then, we will miss her and that wonderful laugh!
