The Richmond, Virginia Democratic Socialists of America are raising funds to replace the brake lights of working Virginians across the Richmond Metro area.
Broken brake lights are a common reason for traffic stops. The $30 fine, plus the expense of repairing the brake light, is a costly burden for working Virginians. Moreover, a broken brake light brings people into additional contact with the police, which can be dangerous or even deadly for many communities, including undocumented immigrants and African-Americans. DSA chapters across the country seek to prevent this threat by offering to replace brake lights for free.
