Drumming at Parkland Day of Healing

Donation protected
I have been asked to travel to Parkland, FL to help those affected by the Douglas High School shooting on their healing journey.  A local organization, Bobby's Place, has called for a Grief Response Team, a national network of therapists, body workers, peer counselors and artists like myself to put on a free day-long gathering "A Day of Healing." During A Day of Healing members of the Douglas H.S. community can participate in workshops and sessions that best fit their needs at this time.

I have been working for the last 11 years working with grieving children and families at hospice facilities, grief centers, and summer camps across the country. I use drumming to teach people how to productively channel their grief and honor those they have lost. The students of Douglas have already shown great courage and leadership in their actions to inform the national conversation - please help me contribute to their healing process.

To be able to participate I'm asking you to find it in your heart to help fund my trip.  Whatever you can contribute will be a blessing in its own.  I'll make sure your healing words and energies are passed along to the community. I'll be volunteering my time. This fundraiser is to pay for work missed and travel expenses. If we raise more than 2000 I will also bring with me a fellow musician and a poet to add a lyrical component to my work while I'm in Parkland. Any additional funds over the goal will be used to return to Parkland and work with Bobby's place to facilitate more workshops.

Please feel free to share this in your social networks and thanks again!

Here's some more information and my call to duty/ invite for the event:

Hello fellow grief stewards and healers,

I am excited and honored to have the opportunity and privilege afforded to me to put together the best combination of hearts, mouths and minds in the field of grief and loss together into one united grief response team for Parkland MSD School, students, staff and community.

This is only possible through the generosity of the Bobby Resciniti Healing Hearts Foundation and its supporters. Established by Bobby’s family in 2006, they have a brick and mortar healing center for bereaved families called Bobby’s Place created for the community with free counseling for the bereaved family. Mitch Carmody’s original portraits of loss called The 20 Faces of Grief lines its walls as you enter.  This center is in the heart of the community of Parkland less than a mile from MSD School; already in place serving the community; we need your help; you are the grief response team.

The Healing Hearts and MSD Community “ A Day of Healing ” will take place Sunday May 20th At the Marriott Heron Bay conference center and golf course.

“The Day of Healing” with consist of several components and one mission. Our mission statement as a grief response team:

“We mobilize hearts and come together to the best of our ability to help heal the hurt, provide tools and hope when we can, where we can, whenever we can to a community devastating by trauma and loss”

                                            National Grief Response Team

Our focus for this event is using your individual talents that you bring to the table, your experience, your knowledge, your response, your goals and equally as important your ability to connect with the griever is paramount.  This is a heart mission not one for changing laws, grievances, ego or marketing, but just for embracing a community with your essence of who you are in mind, body, soul and spirit. This is why you were chosen, to serve in any capacity you can, even if it’s just to hug necks.
