The London Drum Show is the ultimate event for drummers and music enthusiasts; some of the biggest names in drumming will be holding Main Stage, Masterclass and Education Zone sessions.
In 2016, my team and I began research into modern application of Drum rudiments this research culminated in writing a book on drums called "Modern Application of Drum Rudiments with Drum Tabs and Numbers."
This unique concept was developed ... initially, from a basic idea used on bass guitar. I applied the idea to the drums and took it much further. Drum Tabs is a simplified method to read music...if I can summarise drum tab it would be, “play what you see.”
I was so lucky and was approached to get the book published. Wow! I can’t believe I’m a published author. Today, the ideas of this book is what is being developed into a mobile app called " Drummers Chops."
Recently, I had the pleasure of being invited to an international drum show to share the concepts imbibed in Drummers chops. The drum show will be holding over multiple days at Olympia in November 2018.
This is a great opportunity to share my passion in helping people with learning difficulties but exposure at this level can be difficult because it requires a lot of finances to get started. This is why I need your help to raise £4000 to cover some of the costs associated with my exhibition at the show to include exhibition displays, reprint of my book, logistics and so on.

The Back story
I still remember it like yesterday, It was the summer of 1997, the leaves were green and the sun was out. Every child screaming and shouting, in front of the big double gates was a big red signboard in white writings; the words of which I couldn’t quite make out. First it was the pounding headache, then the blurry vision and slowness of speech. I thought perhaps I was reacting to the scorching sun.
This carried on for 4 years till I turned age 16, I decided to attend my local surgery because the eye problems intensified; my GP referred me to see an optician who in turn gave me prescribed me medicated glasses but this didn't help my situation.
It was not until I started University that I finally started having severe problems with the health condition. I had to deal with constant headaches and I was forcing myself to assimilate information, this became very difficult; it made learning a chore, which caused me to repeatedly have low grades on my modules and ultimately, it resulted in me having to repeat the second year of my university degree.
On failing my second year exams at the University of Derby, I was referred to the School’s resident psychologist, who then made an official diagnosis of dyslexia. Who would have thought? I thought I was just slow and dumb. All my life I felt inferior to the other children growing up, I couldn’t quite meet up with the standards everyone had set for me including my teachers and my parents.
I looked for help wherever I could find it. In the course of my research, I discovered that I wasn't alone when it came to suffering with Dyslexia, in fact many famous people like Tom Cruise, Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, Richard Brandon also did and came out better for it.
This sparked a turn of events for me. It was in that moment, I had a mind shift. What if this condition didn’t have to limit me? What alternative ways could I assimilate information?
About Drum Tabs and Rudiments
I began looking for various ways to improve myself. I tried many things and that’s when I discovered music. First it was the piano, then the drums. I got so good at music, I had formal training and took on music teaching as a career option.
I knew I wanted help children so they didn’t have to go through some of the challenges I went through. I became a support and learning assistant. This inspired me to do more research and finally I created a unique learning method for people with learning difficulties which I named "drum tabs and drum numbers." Who would have thought that ‘dumb boy’ could achieve anything good?
Some of my achievements
My foray into the music world has taken me all over the UK for teaching and individual recognition awards. My big break came when I started teaching at Hopewell School in Dagenham and Belmont, Essex. I started taking kids for 20 hours a week in piano, drum and bass guitar lessons. From then on I have received invitations from schools, social enterprises and many organisations around the UK spanning London, Manchester, Belfast but to name but a few.
