Greetings! When we joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity we did so because of their espoused values of Friendship, Justice, and Learning.
One major way these values come together is evidenced in the 6th Annual Chapter’s Service Trip to the Dominican Republic.
Eleven brothers including our faculty advisor, Fr. Brian Cool, will be participating. After fundraising efforts ourselves, our remaining goal is now just $4,000! Your support today would help achieve our lofty goal and truly impact lives.
The project this year is indeed ambitious. We will be constructing fifteen latrines in a community about 30 minutes away from Don Juan. If you can believe it, few homes have latrines, running water or septic system to speak of. Our work in constructing latrines will drastically change and improve the standard of living and sanitation conditions these families face daily. Additionally, we make a significant amount of baseball donations to the sports community in the local area. Every day after work we would play a baseball game with the entire community, mostly consisting of youth in the local area. If you have any sports equipment to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Our bond with the community is just as important maybe even more important than just building latrines.
We believe now more than ever, that it is the time for us to embody and spread the ideals of Sigma Chi. This trip will give us an incredible opportunity to exemplify our fraternity’s ideals in a very real way by offering life-changing service to those who are materially poor.
