Drowning But Hopeful

We have had a series of unfortunate events take place, starting 2 years ago when Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Following his diagnosis, he had surgery to remove the cancer. After the surgery, he went through several months of chemo. He tried going back to work immediately, as a nurse, but the chemo had left him with severe neuropathy in his hands and feet. He was forced to go on short-term disability, which only pays half of what his salary had been.  We moved in together thinking that it would ease our financial burdens. However, we were dealt another blow in finances when my role at work changed, along with an unexpected pay cut! Mike is able to return to work as a nurse now and even had an interview yesterday that seems promising. Although promising, it could take up to 3 weeks to hear something back. The job search is heavily underway, with another interview scheduled for next week. Until all of this takes place, we drowning financially. Everything has become a dominoe effect. For instance picking and choosing which medicine you will have filled this week and which ones you can do without. The power has been shut off, but restored again, thanks to one of his family members. Thanks to one of my family members, we were given a large amount of groceries to get us through. Now we are trying to come up with two months worth of rent, among other things, such as our car payments, gas, car insurance.....and on and on.... When we are back on our feet, we want to be able to pay it forward and help others in need. This page was a hard step to take, with our pride and everything, but we have had to swallow it!
