DROP's maternal mortality campaign

Donation protected
We are a group of Upper Sixth form students at Bedford School, Bedford, UK. We are all passionate about helping others, not just locally, but around the world and we wanted to try and provide help to those in South Sudan, a country that has suffered terribly as a result of civil war, famine and disease outbreaks. We set up Drop to send aid packages to help prevent maternal mortality.

South Sudan has the highest mortality rate from issues relating to pregnancy and childbirth of any country in the world and so we felt that it would be a suitable country for us to focus on and to help mothers during pregnancy and childbirth.

Our aid packages will include sterile gloves, wipes, mats to place under the mother, bowls for the placenta and to store any other fluids, clean towels for both the baby and the mother, a thermometer and soap. These items have been chosen following consultation with a number of NGOs, including Life for African Mothers (LFAM), which we have engaged with and spoken to about all aspects of this project.

We aim to provide support to those in the world who need it most and who have struggled greatly over the past year, as it has been harder for charities to reach them and for charities to raise funding to support these operations. We hope you will join us on this venture and help us make a small, but important difference and help reduce maternal mortality.
