Drew is just 40 years young and is battling his second bout of cancer. Drew and his wife have 2 boys Harvey 3 and Luca 7 months.
About 5-6 years ago whilst working as a paramedic, Drew was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. After being cleared Drew decided to join Victoria Police.
Drew has worked previously at Ringwood as well as Reservoir before settling down closer to home at the Croydon police station in February 2017.
Drew has visited the medial specialists in September 2017 for a check-up and was advised that the lymphoma had returned more aggressive than the previous round.
Drew has undergone intense chemotherapy over the last few months and was in the final stages of preparation for a bone marrow and stem cell transplant procedure which would of bolstered his battle against this aggressive lymphoma. As part of the final screening, just prior to the procedure a delayed scan result came back indicating that the aggressive lymphoma had returned throughout his body. This had occurred in a very short time frame, following the last round of chemotherapy which is unheard of for his type of lymphoma. It goes without saying that this was not the news he wanted to hear leading into his potential lifesaving transplant which had to be painstakingly cancelled.
Drew is currently in the middle of some fast track testing to get a spot on a phase one medical trial that is due to commence at the end of February. This is an experimental drug made by a leading American company that has yet to be tested on humans anywhere in the world and is not approved by any regulatory body.
We are hoping to raise funds to assist Drew and his young family towards the costs of the medial treatment and the upkeep and day to day costs of running a family home whilst unable to work.
