Drew Farabaugh’s dental-medical bills.

Donation protected
The community has repeatedly reached out to the Farabaugh’s and myself asking what they can do to help. Thank you to all those that have sent cards to Drew, they are really cheering him up knowing he is loved. But unfortunately they have a long road ahead and contributions to help fund Drew’s surgical recovery would be greatly appreciated by the family. Here is what happened:

On Friday July 8th, 2022 Drew Farabaugh was riding his bike a block from his home to a friend’s house when he was struck by a car.

Drew was transported to Good Samaritan hospital. He sustained extensive trauma to his body and head/face. The trauma team repeatedly told us his helmet saved his life and he’s lucky to be alive.

On Saturday Drew required surgery to repair the bones in his face and wire his broken mandible closed. The dental trauma to his mouth was far worse than anticipated. Drew lost multiple teeth front and back. The teeth that are left are badly broken and will need to be pulled. Drew will require months of oral surgery to stabilize his month followed by years of surgery when his is older.

Unfortunately, because he is still a child, they cannot put implants into his jaw until he stops growing between 22 to 25 years of age. No fault insurance will cover about $50K but it’s is estimated that Drew has around $100k plus of damage to his mouth. Sadly health insurance does not recognize teeth as medical and will not cover this much needed work to make him feel whole again.

Drew is still currently hospitalized with moderate facial swelling and has developed an infection/fevers requiring IV antibiotics. His partially collapsed left lung has resolved so they have been able to take him off the non rebreather and cardiac monitors.

He walked for the first time yesterday.

He is lucky to be alive and just wants to get home to his brother, cat, family and friends.

Thank you in advance for understanding what this means to the family and giving whatever you can to make this just a little easier on them. Each donation means Drew will have the necessary dental work he needs.

The horror of the accident hits home to all of us with kids and loved ones. Feeling it could have been any of us in this same situation. We are so grateful that Drew is alive and now we hope for our community can come together to help them on the long road ahead.
