Dreamscape Rescue Horses

Dear Dreamscape Community:

We are small group of boarders who have horses, as you do, at Dreamscape Ranch. Having spent the last few seasons visiting the ranch, and getting to know Lea and the horses, we have realized that not only do we have our horses with the kindest caretaker in Lea, but it is also a farm that cherishes all stages of a horse’s life and longevity.

Over the years, some horses have been surrendered to the ranch. Often, they are lame or not useable for the task the owners bought them for. Sometimes an owner is not financially able to retire their horse and the only option for them is to either give the horse away or put it down. Dreamscape Ranch has, on a number of occasions, stepped in to save a horse from a premature death or a sad existence somewhere else. Although a hardened business person might say, “What are you doing?!”, all of us who have chosen to retire our horses understand the altruistic notion of allowing a horse—who has
carried our kids safely, taught us to ride, made us proud at the track, or been a kind companion—to live out their days as peacefully and happy as they can. Let’s face it: it’s hardly a good business decision! But we do it, because we can, and because we should.

To this end, we are looking to you to help us raise some money to help Dreamscape continue to care for five of these surrendered horses.
Our reasoning is twofold. First, we want to give back to a woman who labours for our horses every single day of every week in all weather to make sure they are healthy and happy. This isn’t an easy job. Secondly, we know that running a farm for horses is expensive and labour intensive. Our board, while it may cover feed, doesn’t leave much left over to go to maintaining the farm. These horses, either surrendered or loved by us, all need fencing, and feeders, and waterers, and shelters, and well maintained fields, and staff to care for them. And this is expensive.

We have raised money over the years for various horse related things—I personally have been involved in a riding club that needed to fundraise for an indoor arena. Some of us have fundraised for various horse rescues over the years that have given happy lives to abused, or neglected horses that would have otherwise suffered.

Lea has been doing all this on her own for a number of horses over 18 years. We want to help lessen the load.

We hope you can give where you are able.  All proceeds go directly to Dreamscape Ranch. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000. And we hope, from time to time, to do other fundraisers for the ranch at regular intervals in an effort to continue to care for those souls who aren’t lucky enough to have us as owners.

NOTE: Under the donation amount there is a TIP OPTION. This Tip money goes directly to GoFundME, as they advertise as a 'Free Platform'.  Each donation is already subject to a 2.9% transaction fee plus 0.30 cents for processing payments.

Please join us, because sometimes...it takes a village.
