Dramatherapy for Yazidi Refugees

I'm a trained Art & Drama Therapist and I'm going to be based in Serres, Greece for the next three months (Sep-Dec 2018) volunteering to help Yazidi refugees who have escaped extremists, war, genocide and other trauma.
I will be using Art Therapy and Dramatherapy techniques to help women, children and men who are at the refugee camp to find hope, peace and happiness as they await residency. Your kind and generous donation will help me with basic living costs so I can stay in Greece for longer BUT most importantly will help provide art and drama resources to help these wonderful people who have been through so much.
HOW DOES ART & DRAMA HELP?
How many times have you sat down to watch netflix, read a book, gone to the movies, turned on the radio, created a spotify playlist, danced around your bedroom, played a game, sang in the car, made something or been to a concert and they have helped to distract you or entertain you? Even if just for a short while you've felt free or happy? That is how art and drama works! It is so powerful, transformative and uplifting!
Through many of the attributes of creativity I will be hoping to help the refugees to connect, express, explore and experience hope, relief, freedom, fun and happiness. They have been through so much trauma and lost nearly everything and this is a way they can feel something positive. For you Dramatherapy fans out there I will be using elements like movement, story, role, puppets, play and so much more.
WHO ARE YOU DOING THIS WITH?
I am volunteering with an excellent organisation called Lifting Hands International. It was founded a couple of years ago by one of my friends/flatmates that I used to live with in London.
